Mary Baker Eddy discovered Christian Science in 1866 after being healed from a serious fall and given up by the medical profession. As a devoted Christian, she yearned to know what enabled many throughout the Bible to heal. She committed her life to understanding the spiritual laws which underlay those healings and presented them in her seminal work Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. She taught others to heal and established a church to further this healing ministry.
